Dr. (Mrs.) D. Deobagkar

Former Professor, Department of Zoology; Head, Microbiology; and Director Bioinformatics, Savitribai Phule University, Pune, Dr. Deobagkar has vast experience in the scientific field. She has also served as Professor of Molecular Genetics, and ISRO Chair Professor. Dr. Deobagkar has been associated with various government task forces, and served as a member of several Scientific Advisory Committees and Animal Ethics Committees at the national level. She also worked for 12 years as a consultant to The Serum Institute of India.

Dr. Deobagkar has received numerous awards, including the Best Thesis award from Indian Institute of Science (1984), INSA Young Scientist (1989), and Women Scientist for Science Popularization (one-time award) from Department of Biotechnology, Govt. of India (2004). She has published over 90 papers in reputed national and international scientific journals.
